The U8s team is for children in School Year 3 (a player’s age grade is determined by their age at midnight on 31st August at the beginning of each Season and that age grade applies for the whole Season.) The focus is on having fun, and we welcome players of all shapes, sizes, experience and ability. The children come from a mix of local schools, and so it is a great opportunity for them to meet new friends. The team trains every Sunday at Tor and have a series of matches home and away agains other clubs in the region. Towards the end of the season there is the opportunity to play in rugby festivals which are ’round robin’ competitions against local clubs. Under 8s play non contact tag rugby, in teams of 5 or 6 a-side. The focus is on fun – ensuring the players enjoy the game whilst they build on their skills for the future. At Tor we have RFU accredited volounteer coaches who provide the training for the children, with support (when available) from someof the senior team players. The rules for U8 tag rugby can be found here : UNDER 8s RULES OF PLAY (Tag Rugby) More information on Age Grade Rugby can be found on the RFU Website
