M+Js half term report

Half term report!

Half way through the season already!

It’s been busy but productive, membership of the M+Js has been steadily rising we now have a round 160 members across the age groups from reception to u13s

The squads are really starting to develop their rugby skills

U7s to U8s have been enjoying their tag rugby playing home and away match’s,U9S have taken on the challenge of contact with gusto,u10s continue to improve developing rucking and mauls, the u11s have stepped up teaming up with Cheddar players to form a “TorCh” team fulfilling both teams fixtures under the guidance of Tor and Cheddar coaches who have done a brilliant job with this squad- we are planning some recruitment events for this squad in the new year – watch this space!

U12s have built themselves up into a formidable squad –with excellent support from coaches and manager –numbers have been helped by the work we have done in conjunction with the RFU in local secondary schools since September.

U13s –The step change improvement in this squad has been amazing to watch! Numbers are up –again thanks to the joint work with schools and RFU

In the last month they have pulled out some amazing performances built on true team spirit, pride, determination and commitment. Over 17 players turning up in the cold and rain for midweek training on a regular basis.

Off the pitch the volunteer committee have been working hard to keep up with such a fast developing section, but we are a determined bunch! We have developed our 5 year plan to make sure the M+J section is sustainable and able to provide the players with the opportunity of senior Rugby when they reach 18 and over –in a Club with suitable facilities to suit all players of whatever age sex or ability.

Please get in touch if you are interested in helping the section any way be it from coaching to adding you name to a “kitchen helper rota” every so often

If you would like more detail on our five year development plan please email

Cheers, thank for your ongoing support, have a great Christmas
