MATCH REPORT: FROME 31 – TOR 19 (Friendly)

An extremely physical game last Saturday in high temperatures at Frome RFC which was originally a home game, however due to poor pitch conditions this was changed.

Aside from the first ten minutes where Tor had left their A game in the changing room, or Pilton party, this was a closely contested game with Tor dominating the second half.

Frome gained most of their points in the first ten minutes, with their forwards being the dominant force in their attack. After some big hits from the usual suspects to make them less eager things started going tors way.

Mixed bag for set piece with Frome having some larger lads adding to the scrums and line outs. That being said Tor managed many turnovers at the ruck and mauling was a strength.

Again aside from first ten minutes defending was faultless, with Tors attacking nature coming through in the second half. Discipline being an underlying issue we need to beat out of us!

With Frome being two leagues above Tor, this was a promising result for the Somerset 1 league which kicks off at home against Bridgwater 2xv this Saturday. Due to pitch conditions, this is most likely going to be played at Castle Cary RFC instead.
